About Me

Sarah Mladenka, MS, LPC Associate, NCC, FCIPD, SPHR

We have all experienced the peaks and valleys of life, and clients typically come to see me when they feel stuck in a deep gorge. They are in great pain. Their lives often appear wonderful on the outside – perfect, even – but it certainly doesn’t feel that way. At these times, it can be hard for us to see situations – and ourselves – clearly. Too often we have a tendency to focus on what we regard as our shortcomings, faults or failures. We begin to feel that we are somehow fundamentally broken and cannot even recall our strengths or recognize our self-worth.

Several years ago, I went through a time of great grief, loss and excruciating pain. There was no alternative but to see the world – and myself – in a new way. Everything I had taken for granted fell away and, for the first time, I became aware of my unhelpful assumptions and ingrained patterns. The experience changed me forever. It’s only with hindsight I can recognize this process as a gift.

For over 20 years, I enjoyed a career in People Operations and Leadership on both sides of the Atlantic, helping individuals and teams navigate their highest achievements and toughest challenges. But within the corporate environment, I knew my heart belonged to work more profound, more personal. Our greatest pain is experienced within relationships – whatever their nature. But relationships with others are also the source of our healing. The transformative power of authentic human connection makes the difference between despair and hope. This truth is at the heart of my practice.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate in the State of Texas, supervised by Dr. Tracy McClung, LPC-S, RPT-S. I received my Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. Dallas has been my home since 2008 when I left the United Kingdom to start a new life. I am a wife and a mom and have been married for over 15 years. When I’m not working, I love to indulge my passion for making music. You will also regularly find me in the kitchen or on my yoga mat.

Welcome. I look forward to meeting you!
